Summer in the Chamonix Valley opens up a wealth of activities.
The walks & hikes can be as long or short & as steep or gentle as you like but all are guaranteed to be in spectacular scenery..! Cable cars can be used to access some of the higher walks offering fantastic views.
The rock climbing possibilities are endless from roadside cragging in the valley, short hikes to crags on the mountainsides to high altitude rock climbs on the Mont Blanc Massif usually accessed by cable cars. Wherever you climb, the views from the top will be fantastic..!
Alpine mountaineering has a long history in Chamonix with many famous & classic routes including of course Mont Blanc, the highest peak in western Europe at 4808m.
Other summer activities include:
mountain biking with many established tracks & many more being developed,
golfing on a top class 18 hole course designed by Trent Jones Senior,
paragliding from the top of the many cable cars,
sightseeing in the valley itself & the surrounding areas using the cable cars, the Montenvers rack railway and the railway that runs the length of the valley into Switzerland.

The whole of the valley is served by passenger/ski buses which run every 15 mins & are free with your ski pass in winter. These run till 11.45pm if you fancy a meal or night out in Chamonix town centre - which is 10 mins drive away.
Chamonix is just over an hour from Geneva airport. There are numerous airport transfer companies & an efficient bus service. A hire car is another option & you have the use of the car during your stay.
The apartment is situated opposite the Grand Montet cable car & chairlift station in the village of Argentiere in the beautiful Chamonix Valley.
Argentiere is a quaint village where you can escape the hustle 'n' bustle and traffic of Chamonix town centre.
The village has numerous bars & restaurants, varied shopping including a supermarket & ski/board equipment hire shops.
Dominated by the impressive 4122m peak of Aiguille Vert, the Grand Montet ski area is one of the biggest in the Chamonix Valley. The vertical drop is approximately 2100m with everything from glacier ski-ing to wide open bowls, off-piste powder runs to tree runs and all in stunning surroundings..!
At the top of the valley, the extensive ski area of Le Tour is only a 5 minute drive. This ski area is ideal for beginners, with its gentle lower slopes, to intermediate & expert skiers/boarders with its long runs across the Col du Balme & down to Vallorcine.
